A Castellano Butcher's Metal String

I am playing a classical guitar with five nylon strings and one metal string in a Barcelona cafe around 1999. A butcher from next door requests the nickel-plated sixth string to tie meat for smoking. I break the string to give to the butcher.

I continue to play the five softer strings with no intention of adding a sixth metal string for the remainder of the residency.

After I woke up, I realized the paella wouldn't have tasted perfect if all of the classical guitar strings were nylon.
